Waterbird surveys in the Channel Country floodplain wetlands
About the report
This report documents waterbird populations on wetlands of the Lake Eyre Basin (LEB), particularly those in the Georgina-Diamantina catchments, during the first few months after a major flood early in 2009. It describes surveys undertaken in April-May 2009 and the species, numbers and breeding of waterbirds recorded. Conclusions are presented in relation to the significance of the wetlands for recruitment to waterbird populations and implications for river and wetland management at local and continental scales.
